I Never Thought I Would Be So Excited About a Shot in the Stomach
I saw the RE today, and she said I had one good, mature follicle (actually, she said “one, maybe one and a half”—I am concerned about her math skills) and it was time to trigger and schedule the IUI! The Ovidrel injection didn’t hurt, even though I was totally expecting it to because it was in the lower stomach area.
I must have looked too happy, because my RE, ray of sunshine that she is, said, “I don’t want you to get your hopes too high. It’s still only a 20 percent chance per cycle.” Ouch. 20 percent as in the same chance a normal couple has in a month with plain ol’ sex. You would think that with all the monitoring and blood tests and sperm washing we might get a 5 percent bump, but NO.
Anyway, IUI #1 is scheduled for tomorrow morning. We’re following it up with brunch with friends because, well, we’re New Yorkers, and New Yorkers follow everything with brunch. (That, and I have had my eye on a smoked salmon and broccoli rabe omelet all week. Yum!)
Wish me luck (again…this is quickly becoming my catchphrase)!
