What Are You Eating?!
I am so tired of this question. I am up 17 pounds as of 21 weeks, and as such I am “ahead of the curve,” weight-gain wise (on pace for 36-37 lbs, apparently). I don’t get the question from ordinary people such as coworkers and family and such, just medical providers like my midwives.
The husband was there for the last “WHAT are you eating?”, and was baffled. “Did she even look at you?” He hissed once we left the office. “You’re all belly. You look great. They can’t expect everyone to be the same.”
To add insult to insult, in the last few weeks, I have managed to get back on the exercise bandwagon. I work out five times a week now: 2 days a week, I do 30 minutes of cardio, 2 days I do 20 minutes of cardio and lift for 25 minutes, and on the fifth day I do whatever I feel like, which had pretty much been yoga and pilates. And for the last couple of days, I tracked what I ate out of curiosity—could I, unbenownst to myself, be putting away an extra 500-750 calories a day? Not surprisingly, the answer is NO…my counts were between 1900 and 2200, which are on the low-normal end of what I should be eating.
What to do? (Note: I will accept “F*&k ‘em” as a valid response.)
